Oslo, Norway, and Wilhelmshaven, Germany, 30. August 2024 – Tree Energy Solutions (TES) and ZEG Power (ZEG) are pleased to announce the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) to jointly explore opportunities for green hydrogen production in Germany. The collaboration aims to accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future by leveraging ZEG’s novel green hydrogen production technology integrated with carbon capture.
As part of this agreement, TES has awarded ZEG a feasibility study to assess the viability of implementing ZEG’s technology and to evaluate the technical, economic, and environmental aspects of deploying an initial demonstration plant, paving the way for potential large-scale deployment of the technology.
Jens Schmidt
Chief Technology Officer of TESThis initiative aligns with TES’ aim to democratise access to reliable and affordable green energy through existing infrastructure to end-customers. The partnership with ZEG marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to advance decentralised green hydrogen production from e-NG while capturing the CO2.
Arild Selvig
Chief Executive Officer of ZEGWe are thrilled to partner with TES to explore clean hydrogen production opportunities in Germany. The ZEG technology can significantly reduce carbon emissions and costs, contributing to a more sustainable energy mix. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to empower the world with clean energy.
The feasibility study is set to begin in September 2024, with results expected within the next six months. If successful, the deployment of ZEG’s technology in Germany could represent a significant milestone in transitioning to a hydrogen-based economy.
TES is a global green energy company leading the way in the production of e-NG (electric natural gas derived from green hydrogen). Headquartered in Europe, TES is committed to making reliable and affordable green energy accessible to all by implementing giga-scale projects using a proven, scalable and cost-effective method. With a presence in North America, Middle East, Asia and Australia, the company’s green hydrogen model uses solar and wind energy in low-cost areas with abundant sunlight or wind. The green hydrogen is then combined with climate-neutral CO2 and transformed into e-NG, a renewable molecule, easy to transport and store using existing infrastructure. Through the supply of e-NG to various industries, TES aims to win the climate race ensuring the mass adoption of green molecules across the globe.

ZEG develops ZEG ICCTM technology, a clean hydrogen production technology with integrated carbon capture for various end-user applications, including industry and mobility sectors. The technology is based on sorption-enhanced reforming and was originally developed at the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE), a highly recognized research institute in Norway. ZEG recently opened the ZEG H1 plant at Kollsnes, Norway, which is the world’s first commercial clean hydrogen production plant with integrated carbon capture. ZEG H1 will produce approximately 1 ton of clean hydrogen per day.
ZEG’s owners include SLB, IFE Invest, Stratel, AP Ventures, Nysnø Klimainvesteringer, SPARX Mirai, StartupLab Founders Fund, Nordea Asset Management and Danske Invest.
